The latest EU food laws
The European Commission is banning titanium dioxide (اي 171) كمضاف غذائي في الاتحاد الأوروبي, بدءا من فترة الإلغاء التدريجي لمدة ستة أشهر اعتبارا من فبراير 7, 2022, حتى أغسطس 7, 2022, وبعد ذلك يتم تطبيق حظر كامل. بعد نشر لائحة المفوضية (الاتحاد الأوروبي) 2022/63 in the EU’s Official Journal (OJ) on January 18, 2022, Annex II and III to Regulation (EC) No 1333/2008 on food additives will be amended accordingly. The Regulation also includes a commitment to review the necessity to maintain or delete titanium dioxide (اي 171) from the EU list of food additives for exclusive use as a color in medicinal products. On November 30, 2021, the Commission had already published Commission Implementing Regulation (الاتحاد الأوروبي) 2021/2090 in the OJ, denying the authorization of titanium dioxide (اي 171) as a feed additive for all animal species.
What should companies do?
Comply with the relevant food laws and regulations of the EU, and sell all products containing titanium dioxide as soon as possible within the deadline. If all the products have not been sold within the time limit, the products in stock should be sold in non-EU regions, such as North America, South America, Asia, الخ.
